Summary

A software engineer with experience working in a scientific systems engineering context and knowledge of emerging data exploitation techniques (e.g. AI / Big Data / Data Mining)

Objective

To contribute to software engineering projects and technical bid work for new space-related software systems. To respond to, and meet the needs of technically expert customers.

Responsibilities / Duties

  • Software Engineering / development within a team
  • Contribution to technical bid authoring
  • Exploitation of emerging data technologies (E.g. data mining; artificial intelligence techniques; “Big Data” systems)
  • Support to full software system lifecycle, as needs arise

 Qualifications / Experience                  

  • Relevant post-graduate degree in computer science or relevant technical subject
  • Experience applying non-traditional data technologies to solve real-world problems
  • Experience in implementing systems to handle large data volumes / with high performance computing (HPC) requirements

Essential Skills

  • Fluent in English (Reading / Writing / Speaking)
  • Able to work directly with external customers, including technical presentations as needed
  • Ability to contribute to software architecture definition, in response to customer technical requirements
  • Software development skills relevant to data processing and analysis
  • Database management
  • Java development

 Desirable Skills

  • General knowledge of satellite systems
  • Parallel processing techniques
  • High Performance Computing techniques
  • AI techniques (e.g. for image analysis or natural language user interfaces)
  • Python experience
